Earlier in the season the Lady Mountaineers blanked Murray 5-0 at home. Today would be no different with the girls traveling to Murray for a rematch with a region playoff spot on the line. The Lady Mountaineers wasted no time scoring 4 runs in the first inning. Savannah Smith got things started by reaching base on an error. Tatum Brown followed with a singled. Giving way to McKinley Fields who would homer over the left enter field wall. Giving the Mountaineers a 3-0 with no outs. Talli Burgess would walk and steal second. Alivia Rymer would single and score Burgess giving NM a 4-0 at the end of one. Burgess would strikeout the side in the INDIANS half of the first.
In the top of the second, Grace Petty would ground out to third, giving way to Savannah Smith. Smith would see a pitch she liked and drive it over the left field wall for her first homerun of the season. Brown and Fields would also score that inning giving the Lady Mountaineers a 7-0 lead. In bottom half, Burgess would again strikeout the side.
The Lady Mountaineers would go scoreless in the 3rd. The Indians would lead off the bottom of the third with a double but that would be the only hit they would get. Burgess got two strikeouts and a fly ball to end the inning.
The girls would add one more in the fourth, on an Annabell Ortiz single to score Burgess and take a 8-0 lead. Once again Burgess would strikeout the side in the bottom half.
The top of the fifth would see the Lady Mountaineers add 3 more runs. Fields would have a 2 RBI single plating Smith and Avery McCamy. Fields would later score on a Burgess sacrifice. In the bottom of the fifth, Burgess would get two more strikeouts and a pop fly to end the ball game. Burgess ended the game with an astonishing 13 strikeouts!
The Lady Mountaineers will be back in action on Thursday as the Lady Colts come to town for Senior Night. First pitch is scheduled for 5:55
